This is the far end of our route rather than the near end, so the 45-minute express press at the counter is a trip to plan rather than something to rely on.

About Muhaisnah 1
Muhaisnah 1 is the quiet corner of Muhaisnah. It holds Madinat Badr, an eleven-building low-rise between Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road and Al Khawaneej Road, plus an older grid of villas and a cluster of schools and colleges north of it. Sheikh Rashid granted the land to Dubai Islamic Bank in 1975, on a night the bank still records as a full moon, and the names followed: badr is the full moon, the district built out is called Qamar, and the buildings run Qamar 1 to Qamar 11. Every address here is a moon. Dubai Medical College for Girls, the first private medical college in the country, opened a kilometre and a half north in 1986.

- Madinat Badr — Qamar 1 to 11
- Eleven buildings of eight storeys, finished in 2017 and sold from 2019, built to a Mediterranean pattern of courtyards and arcades rather than towers. The flats are large for Dubai: one-bedrooms start around 923 square feet and three-bedrooms reach 2,124. Gated, with covered parking for residents and visitors.
- Souk Badr
- Thirty-one shop units along the ground floors of Qamar 2 and Qamar 3, with a supermarket, two pharmacies, a gym, a couple of salons and the coffee places. No laundry among them, which is the reason a lot of Qamar residents have been sending their washing out of the community rather than down the stairs.
- The villas
- The older half of Muhaisnah 1, on numbered streets between the schools and Algeria Street. Standalone and attached villas with backyards and maid's rooms, some with pools. Unlike Muhaisnah 2, 3 and 4 there is no labour accommodation here, which is what makes this corner quiet.
- The schools corner
- Greenwood International School, the School of Modern Skills and the Arab American Private School sit within a kilometre of Madinat Badr, with Dubai Medical College and Dubai Pharmacy College just north. Uniforms here arrive on a school week, not a weekend.
What leaves the house
What a household in Muhaisnah 1 sends out
Muhaisnah 1 sends out a different basket from the villa districts around us. These are family flats rather than family villas, but big ones, so a three-bedroom in Qamar puts out bedding from three rooms and a run of school uniforms without having a maid's room to absorb any of it. That is the whole difference: in Al Mizhar the everyday washing usually stays in the house and the pressing comes to us. Here both come. Curtains from a Qamar flat are a manageable job rather than a villa-scale one, and there is nowhere in the building to dry a rug.
At the door
Getting to your door in Muhaisnah 1
Give us the building and the flat number and that is the address. Qamar 1 to 11 are signed and the driver will not need anything else once he is through. Coming from the counter he runs west on Al Khawaneej Road, past Etihad Mall, and arrives at the frontage rather than through the villa streets, which are numbered and do not connect straight through. Tell us on the call whether you would rather hand over at your door or at the entrance, and we will hold to whichever you pick.
